The Parliament of Vorona, commonly known as the Voronan Parliament, is the supreme legislative body in Vorona. It alone possesses legislative supremacy and thereby ultimate power over all other political bodies in Vorona. Its head is the Speaker of the Parliament and its seat is the Parliament Building in Godwinchester, Vorona.
Term[]
Parliamentary sessions begin on May 1 and last three years. At the beginning of every session, a "Question Times Resolution" is brought to debate to allow correspondence between the Opposition and the Government.
Composition[]
The Voronan Parliament consists of 99 seats representing districts within the two provinces of Vorona with approximately equal populations. There are no term limits. The Parliament is presided over by the Speaker of the Parliament, who is addressed as "Mr/Mrs. Speaker".
When a single party fails to achieve a majority of the seats in Parliament, a coalition government is formed. A coalition government consists of a group of parties in the government opposed to one or a group of parties that form the Opposition. In a coalition government, the leader of the largest party becomes the Prime Minister whereas the leader of the second largest party becomes the Deputy Prime Minister. The Opposition consists of the Leader of the Opposition, also referred to as the "Opposition Leader", and the Shadow Cabinet.
