Overview[]
The AOEWU is a federation of independent Trade unions that organise in and around the oil and energy industries in Cildania, they are affiliated to the country's main union body the Cildanian Confederation of Trade Unions.
As well as coordinating the work of trade unions in their sector, they own 33.3% of the Offshore Industry Limited Company the largest oil company in Cildania.
Although all alliance affiliates are independent the AOEWU provides legal and training services for smaller members.
The alliance is governed by an executive committee (EC) and run by a General Secretary. The EC is elected at the biennial delegate congress, while the General Secretary is appointed for life (or until retirement) by the leaders of the various affilate unions.
Member Organisations[]
- United Riggers and Roughnecks (URR); A militant and leftwing union of oil rig and refinary workers.
- Salaried Staff Association of the Oil Industry (SSAOIL); A moderate union for office and admin staff.
- Women Energy Workers Fightback (WEWF); A union that was formed to fight sexism in the industry.
- Amalgamated Oil Tanker and Truck drivers (AOTT); The union for drivers in the industry.
- Nuclear Power Staff Association (POWER); Brings together workers in nuclear power stations and related sectors.
