The Imperial Crownlands of Greater Hulstria has a large and highly developed economy centered around manufacturing and exports. The nation was the first of the economies of Dovani to undergo industrialisation and since that time been the pre-eminent economic power of the region, in close competition with Dranland. The nation is also noted for the close co-operation between the government, corporations and unions, a system which many theorise has helped the nation achieve its pre-eminent economic position today. The system in a large part evolved from the feudalistic systems of both the Hulstrian and Gao-Showa societies with both the government and economy being for a large part under the direct control or influence of a few leading families.
[edit] Conglomerations
As noted above the economy of Greater Hulstria is dominated by several families. This is due to the fact that most major companies in all sectors of the economy are part of large conglomerates which via various means are generally majority held or for a large part controlled by many of the major aristocratic families, which helps explain their continued pre-eminence despite various political crises over the history of the nation. These conglomerates (known as Geschäftnetze in Hulstrian and Zaibatsu in Gao-Showa) have been a great influence on the politics and economics of the nation yet due to their complex nature very few are known by the general public. Notable examples are FDAdler-Osthandel the which hold major stakes in manufacturing, mining and pharmaceutical and is controlled by the House of Strauss and Sanedaha the zaibatsu of the Clan Tokugawa which controls the nations largest bank, Sanedaha-Östliche Bank, the major supermarket chain INI, and several other major concerns.
As of the 2720s, Rockygroup Incorporated has opened up a Dovani branch based in Kien, known as Rockygroup Dovani.
