Education in Indrala is provided by both public schools and private schools. Some private schools receive state-funding on a case-by-case basis.
Indrala has one of the worlds highest-educated labour forces. The country is well known for its obsession with education. Higher education is an overwhelmingly serious issue in Indralan society, where it is viewed as one of the fundamental cornerstones of Indralan and Jienist life. Education is regarded as a high priority for Indralan families as success in education is necessary for improving one's socioeconomic position in Indralan society. Academic success is often a source of pride for families and within Indralan society at large. Graduating from a top university (especially a 'KITE' university) is the ultimate marker of prestige, high socioeconomic status, promising marriage prospects, and a respectable career path. An average Indralan child's life revolves around education as pressure to succeed academically is deeply ingrained in Indralan children from an early age. Students in Indralan begin their school career at age 5 and graduate at age 18. Homeschooling is forbidden in Indralan, as all compulsory education must take place at a government-sanctioned institution. 96% of all secondary school students in Indrala graduate. There exists a national curriculum which all schools are required to follow which puts a social emphasis on national cohesion, individual achievement and community involvement.
Standardized Testing[]
All Indralan students are required to complete the Indralan Scholastic Ability Test (ISAT) in order to graduate, and in order to enter higher education. As higher education is incredibly important in Indralan society, the ISAT is considered as a seminal moment in a young person's life. On the day of the ISAT, planes are grounded across the country and public transit is mandated to operate at max capacity. The National Police Agency is also expected to not use their sirens unless absolutely necessary.
