The Monarchy of Rildanor is a constitutional, popular and hereditary monarchy whose incumbent is known as the King/Queen of the Rildanorians (Canrillaişe: Roi/Reine des Rildanoriens).
History[]
The oldest royal house of Rildanor was the Leone Family, about which little is known. When the Leones died out in 2235, they were replaced by their distant relatives the House of Nareath who ruled on-and-off for nearly four centuries. When the last Nareath king died in 2608, the throne lay vacant until Léopold Jean Tristan d'Orléans-Vasser of the House of Orléans-Vasser was acclaimed as King Leopold I.
In 3260, Rildanor was united with Kanjor, another realm ruled by the House of Orleans-Vasser, to form the Empire of Canrille under a shared monarch. The union lasted until 3426, when Rildanor succeeded and abolished the monarchy. Just ten years later, a group known as the Pavanists (named for their leader, Peter Pavane) seized control of Rildanor and established a federal monarchical structure under the House of Pavane, with their leader becoming High King Peter I. This lasted 10 years, until Peter was overthrown and replaced by an elective High Kingship.
However, this arrangement proved unsatisfactory, and the parties of Rildanor began the search for a new hereditary monarch. Duke Philip of Louives of the House of Demitreus put his name forward for consideration, and was accepted by the Parliament of Rildanor and made High King Philip I.
The Demetrius and Orléans-Vasser families would variously rule as Kings or Queens of the Rildanorians, and the monarchy would collapse during a republican era from 3681 - 4253. The Orléans-Vasser line was restored in 4253 with the ascension of Auguste I.
However, 4 years into his reign the Republic Act was passed. The Act abolished the Monarchy and replaced it with the current Presidency.
The monarchy would be reinistated in 4590 by Queen Hélène ll and the House of Orléans-Vasser would once again rule over Rildanor!
In November 4639, Queen Hélène ll passed away due to old age. Without any successor to the Rildanorian throne, the crown passed on to the Lourennais branch, which, was unified with the House of Orléans-Vasser in the mid 44th century. The new heir to the Rildanorien throne is Louis IV, the current holder is Catherine II of Lourenne.
