The Governor-General of New Englia is the head of state and head of government of New Englia. The governor-general leads the executive branch of the federal government and is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of New Englia.

Article V of the Constitution vests the executive power of New Englia in the president and charges him with the execution of federal law, alongside the responsibility of appointing federal executive, diplomatic, regulatory, and judicial officers, and concluding treaties with foreign powers, with the advice and consent of the Senate. Despite possessing no formal legislative powers beyond signing or vetoing bills passed in Congress, the position is largely responsible for dictating the legislative agenda of his/her party and the foreign and domestic policy of the country.

The governor-general is elected by the people along with the vice-general via popular vote on March 10 and is Inaugurated on April 1 and serves a term of 3 years without any term limits. He/She receives a fixed salary of 100,000 FRX a year and lifetime benefits after retirement. Since 2783, 57 individuals have been elected to the post. On April 1, 3206 Ayumi Tsutsumi became the 58th and current governor-general.

Powers and Duties[]

The Governor-General has various powers and duties attached to the job.

Legislative Role[]

The Governor-General's legislative power consist of the ability to veto legislation. It is required that any bill passed by Congress to be presented to the governor-general before it can become law. Once the legislation has been presented, the governor-general has three options:

1. Sign the legislation; the bill then becomes law.

2. Veto the legislation and return it to Congress, expressing any objections; the bill does not become law, unless each house of Congress votes to override the veto by a two-thirds vote in the National Assembly and a simple majority in the Senate.

3. Take no action. In this instance, the president neither signs nor vetoes the legislation. After 10 days, the bill becomes law.
