History[]
The earliest mention of the House of Battenburg is Count Richard von Battenburg in the 12th Century. In 1824 when Queen Margaret I died without issue the House of Hohenstauffen-Schleskau ceased to exist and passed to the House of Battenburg, and Duke Jakob von Battenburg who subsequently became King of Aloria. Jakob assumed the royal name of Jakob IV as the first Alorian King from the House of Battenburg.
Once again the House of Hohenstauffen married into the royal house of Aloria and the cadet branch the House of Hohenstauffen-Battenburg (or House of Battenburg-Hohestauffen to those in Aloria) was formed. The primary house, Battenburg continued to reign over Aloria but the Hohenstauffen-Battenburg branch remained influential in Alorian politics.
The House of Battenburg reigned over Aloria until the monarchy was abolished in 2099. In modern times both the House of Battenburg and the House of Hohenstauffen-Battenburg continue to exist with the former claiming the throne of Aloria.
