Joseph Edwards

Joseph James Edwards (22 October 2204-14 May 2277) was the 45th Prime Minister of Kirlawa, long-time Minister of Foreign Affairs and a founding member and leader of the Liberal Progressive Party from 2236 until his death in 2277.
Edwards became leader of the Liberal Progressives in November 2236, following his official election at the party's first leadership convention, and was an outspoken critic of the CandyKids government during their time in power from 2236 to 2248. He was elected as a Representative at the top of the party's Dirlana list in 2245, and became Prime Minister in early 2249 following the formation of a Cabinet by the Leftist Coalition. He stepped down as Prime Minister in 2250 after the formation of a new Cabinet following the elections in that year, but carried on in the Cabinet as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2250 to 2266, and again from 2266 until 2277.
Edwards was a notable figure in the Alorian-Kirlawan Crisis, with it being him who proposed the Aloria Sanctions Motion to the House of Representatives in 2275. He was an outspoken critic of the Zionist Coalition in the nation, and was Foreign Affairs Minister as the nation came the closest it has come to a major war in the last two hundred and fifty years.
Edwards died on the 14th of May 2277, after a flight he was on to talks with the Alorian Zionist government crashed, with all 49 passengers killed. It is believed that the crash was the result of anti-aircraft missiles fired by the People's Socialist Front of Aloria paramilitary forces, at the time members of the governing coalition. The attack received domestic condemnation from all sides, particularly from members of Edwards's Liberal Progressive Party.
Joseph Edwards House, the headquarters of the Liberal Progressives in Ishis, Uwakah, is named in his honour.
