Kanjor Election 2355

The snap election of 2355 for the Confédération des Deux Kanjors was held in December, 2355. It featured an increased Senate size, giving the Kanjoran Senate 225 seats. The Partie Patriotique de Kanjor was the overall winner, and the Industrialist Party lost its prominence. The election also featured the début of four new parties, and the return of Les Verts du Kanjor. Elections had been scheduled for April 2356, until the Industrialist Party called snap elections.

There were 64,401,155 people with suffrage. A total of 47,003,311 votes have been cast, putting turnout at 72.99%. There were 225 seats being contested, which was 81 more than at the previous election.

The election saw the début of three new parties. In part helped by the Senate restructuring, the Front Liberal Uni and the Opportuniste Collectif both gained seats, which is uncommon for new parties.

The election also saw the return of Les Verts du Kanjor, contesting their first election since 2344.
[edit] Snap Election
It is believed that the Industrialist Party announced the election earlier to consolidate Industrialist power and to prevent the minor parties from gaining a significant profile with the public. However, this failed with the Industrialists losing their majority and the presidency, and three parties gaining new seats.
The bill calling for the snap elections was called in November, and supported by Les Verts.
