The Ministry of Defense (Dundorfian: Verteidigungsministerium, Lorman: Ministērijan stēisan ginījas) sometimes known as the Ministry of War (Dundorfian: Kriegsministerium) is the the top-level branch of the Government of Dorvik which is responsible for the civil administrative leadership of the Armed Forces of Dorvik.

The Dorvish Ministry of Defense is responsible for civilian operations of the armed forces; it plays little operational role which is left for the Supreme General Staff. In recent decades the Minister of Defense and the Inspector-General of the Supreme General Staff have simultaneously held the role. The Minister of Defense is appointed by a Council of Ministers proposal by the State Council and confirmed by the same body.

Military civil service[]

In Dorvik, while the State Administration Service staffs civilians to the Ministry of Defense, the Dorvish Armed Forces maintain their own corp of military civil servants known as the Landwehr Administration (Dundorfian: Landwehrverwaltung; LV). These officials are military officials who carry a different set of ranks and are considered serving in "military service" thus accrue time and are protected underneath international law but are not considered to be front-line troops.
