Rildanor Solidaire (full name: Parti Libéral pour un Rildanor Solidaire; short name: Solidaire) is a far-left party in the Royaume Français de Rildanor. Members of the party are known as Solidairitists or in more casual situations, RilSols. The party holds forty two of the seats in the Sénat.
History[]
The party was founded in 2522 and headquartered in the nation's capital, Labonne. Solidaire competed their first election in 2523 and were greeted with great success, finishing second only to the Front Chrétien Militant (English: Christian Militant Front). The party won over 17,000,000 votes nationwide (18.35%), earning 59 seats in the Sénat. Solidaire finished in first place in the cantons of Tirali (35.69%) and Morbanack (32.91%). After the election, Rildanor Solidaire joined the PDL, PRRS, and PADE to form a center-left governing coalition. Luc Bazinet was elected as the nation's Premier Ministre. Solidaire Deputy Leader Alexis Godin became Minister of Justice, Robert Benoit became head of Internal Affairs, and Léo Tremblay took control of Education & Culture. In a snap election in July 2526, Solidaire broke 20% to win an additional six seats to form a 65-member strong caucus. Two elections later, in June 2534, Solidaire gave its weakest performance, winning only 42 seats in the Sénat and coming in fourth place in the party vote.
Leadership[]
Solidaire was first lead by founder Luc Bazinet. Luc previously worked as a lawyer before becoming the last person to be charged with violating Rildanor's sodomy prohibition. He is openly gay and fluent in English and French. Luc brought together other notables from Rildanor's cultural community to form Solidaire. He is so far the only leader for the party, but an impending election will decide who will be Luc's sucessor. Ironically enough, just a month before leaving office, Luc and Solidaire pulled together enough votes to decriminalize homosexual activity. Following Bazinet's resignation as party leader, a Quiet Dissent in the Sénat caucus lead to the election of Sénatrice Juliette Lévy over Deputy Leader Alexis Godin.
Ideology[]
Ideologically, Solidaire is in the far-left. The party had a former focus on civil liberties and secularism, but this old style political agenda has been abandoned with the election of Lévy as party leader. Currently, the party focuses on governmental services.
