Styles represent the fashion by which monarchs and noblemen are properly addressed. Throughout history, many different styles were used, with little standardization. This page will detail the various styles used by royalty and nobility throughout Terra.

Imperial Styles[]

Imperial Majesty[]

His/Her Imperial Majesty (HIM) is the customary form of address used for any monarch of Imperial dignity. During contemporary era this style has been used by the Esintsundu Emperors and by the Emperors of Davostan, Deltaria, Dundorf, Selucia and Mordusia as their own official form of address. It also serves as the style for the members of some of the aboves' Imperial Families and notoriously for members of the Hulstrian Imperial Family.

His/Her Imperial and Most Illustrious Luthoran Majesty (HI&MILM) was the most renowned full formal style used by the Hulstrian Emperors. It was used for the first time by Rudolf III when First Greater Hulstria was created[1]. This title was an evolution of the style "His Imperial Majesty And Defender Of The Lutheran Faith", adopted by the first Hulstrian (at the time refered as "Gishoton") Monarch of the contemporary era, Klaus Gustav III[2][3].

Imperial and Most Excellent Majesty[]

His/Her Imperial and Most Excellent Majesty (HI&MEM) was an Imperial style used by the Holy Luthori Emperors. Most Excellent Imperial Majesty[]

His/Her Most Excellent Imperial Majesty (HMEIM) is the style officially used by the Emperor of the Istalians and by the Holy Luthori Emperor. The style was created for Michele I, first Emperor of the Istalians, when the First Istalian Empire was founded[7]. The Istalian monarch nonetheless is more often referred to as "Imperial Majesty". In Istalian the title is "Sua Eccellentissima Maestà Imperiale". Although the consorts of the Istalian Emperors usually use the style of "Imperial Majesty", there were few exceptions, on initiative of a couple of reigning monarchs, who wished to recognize their own style to their consort.
Since 5155, into the Constitution of the Holy Luthorian Empire[5] (inspired by the Constitution of the Istalian Empire of 5102) the Luthorian Emperors is refered with the style of "Most Excellent Imperial Majesty", although until Marry III and Andrew III the previous monarchs continued to use the style of "Imperial Majesty"[6].

It was the style used by members of the Ibutho Royal Family who were not heirs apparent, heirs eventual, or children of a monarch. In Istalia this style is used by any member of the ruling House outside the Imperial Family and by the husband of female members of the Imperial Family unless otherwise stated by the head of the family (the Istalian Emperor).

Grace[]

His/Her Grace (HG) is the style used to refer to much of the lower aristocracy throughout Terra, including Dukes and Margraves.

Other Titles[]

Heir Apparent[]

An heir apparent is an heir who (short of a fundamental change in the situation) cannot be displaced from inheriting; the term is used in contrast to heir presumptive, the term for a conditional heir who is currently in line to inherit but could be displaced at any time in the future. During history most monarchies have refered to the heir apparent of their thrones with the descriptive term of crown prince or crown princess, but they have also been accorded with more specific substantive titles: such as "Prince of Alvium" in Lourenne, "Prince of Orange" in Luthori. In Istalia the official title of the heir apparent of the Imperial Throne is "Imperial Grand Prince of the Crown" but under the First Empire he/she bears also the substantive title of "Duke of Marsama" (although the Istalian heirs apparent have always been refered with their main title).

Heir Eventual[]

An heir eventual is an heir who (short of a fundamental change in the situation) cannot be displaced from inheriting but is not him or herself the heir apparent.

Heir Presumptive[]

An heir presumptive is the person provisionally scheduled to inherit a throne, peerage, or other hereditary honour: but whose position can be displaced by the birth of an heir apparent or of a new heir presumptive with a better claim to the throne.

Depending on the rules of the monarchy the heir presumptive might be the daughter of a monarch (if males take priority over females and the monarch has no sons), or the senior member of a collateral line (if the monarch is childless).

If an heir apparent is born, he becomes first-in-line to the throne, with all of his descendants taking priority over the heir presumptive in the Line of Succession. In the event of there being an heir apparent, the title "heir presumptive" lapses and is not used to describe the most senior person in the Line of Succession who is not a direct male descendant of the monarch.

Elected Illustrious Citizen[]

Her/His Elected Illustrious Citizen is a style and title used on the members of the Triumvirate of the Golden Republic of Rapa Pile, the collective Heads of State of the Pilese state.
