The Valruzian Peso (sign: ₱; code: VPO; abbreviated to V₱; also reffered to as peso) is the official currency and the official legal tender in the Republic of Valruzia. It is subdivided into 100 groszy (1 grosz or gr.). Circulating money consitst of banknotes and coins issued by the National Bank of Valruzia.
Since the beginning of the current republic, Valruzian Peso has been fiat money, as the Government of Valruzia refused to legalize convertibility of paper Valruzian currency into any precious metal. Next, to Lodamun Dollar (LOD) it is one of the most commonly used money in international transactions in the Seleyan Union and North Seleyan Economic Community.
On 4247 the newly established National Bank of Valruzia announced that denomination of the old peso would start soon. The new banknotes released to the market featured new state-of-the-art counterfeiting protection. The design featured geometric shapes and famous buildings located throughout Valruzia. NBW announced that a new 500 peso banknote will be released shortly.
